Tips

Make it count.

What hiring managers look for, and how to get the most from this template.

  1. 01

    Lead with your qualification

Put ACA, ACCA, CPA or CFA in your headline and give the year you qualified. Many firms screen on it first.

  2. 02

Show exam progress if you're training

Trainees can list the exams passed so far, such as CAP2 or FAE, and note first-time passes.

  3. 03

    Describe clients by sector

Say "15 audit clients in manufacturing and retail" rather than naming them. It respects confidentiality and still shows scale.

  4. 04

    Name your practice areas

For legal roles, list the matter types you've handled and your Law Society or King's Inns training, with your year of admission or call.

  5. 05

    Keep it to two pages

Partners and finance directors skim, and two pages is the norm.
