Tips

Make it count.

What hiring managers look for, and how to get the most from this template.

  1. 01

Use the competencies in the job specification

Name your examples exactly as the competition does. GrandJob's tailoring matches them to the job ad and flags any you don't yet have an example for.

  2. 02

    Write about what you did

In the action, focus on your own part. In the result, say what changed, with a number where you can.

  3. 03

    Keep examples recent

Use examples from the last two or three years where you can, and draw them from different roles.

  4. 04

    Stay within word limits

Application forms often limit each example. Copy as plain text shows the word count of every one.

  5. 05

    Add languages the role values

Some public service roles value a second language, such as Irish. Add it under Languages with your level.
